What is your cancellation policy?
48 hours notice would be great but I know that life happens. Cancellation with less than 24 hours will require the payment of room hire unless I have a last-minute booking to cover it.
What are your prices?
My fees are $150 for a one-to-one 50 minute session.
Group Therapy usually has only 6 people and is at a lower rate. A group running for 6 weeks for 60 to 90 minutes is $330 prepaid (that’s $55 each session). If you prefer to pay by the session, it $65 per session. You can decide after paying the 1st (single $65) session if you’d like to pay the remaining 5 weeks at the discounted rate of $265. Group members remain the same throughout – no newcomers. Talk to me at our initial discovery call about fees as I aim to make counselling affordable for all.
How do I pay?
Pre-paying using my bank account details will mean less fees for us both from the bank or a booking system!
Do I need a referral or a Mental Health Plan from my GP?
No, neither is needed. I am unable to provide Medicare rebates but this means that I have less wait times plus lower fees than providers you would see with a MHP.
Are you registered with a professional counselling organisation?
Yes, the ACA (Australian Counselling Association). This means that I have an Australian recognised counselling qualification, and abide by the Code of Practice and Ethics, have ongoing professional development to be completed every year, and ongoing supervision by a fully qualified counselling supervisor.
What kind of therapy do you do?
I work with a Person Centred approach:
This is non-judgemental and client-led. It promotes a safe space to express yourself and opens the way for personal growth and problem-solving.
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy):
This helps with skills to tolerate negative thoughts and feelings and to work towards what is important in your life. ACT helps you focus on what you can change in order to lead a better life.
Group therapy:
Is a safe environment with people exploring similar issues and has many benefits. It can help seeing how others cope and know that you’re not alone. Group therapy helps you to express yourself and feel safe in a group to share that understanding and support. Once formed, the group of 6 to 8 people doesn’t take on new members.
Art in sessions:
I incorporate Art if it will benefit you and if you feel drawn to it. It may be drawing, or collage for example. Sometimes it can be surprising to find answers and insight when we don’t use words.
What is your availability?
At the moment I only work Wednesdays, Fridays and some Saturdays. Thanks for your understanding if I don’t get back to your message until these days.
